I'm a writer by nature, but sometimes I get wrapped up in TV series and binge them instead.

A movie or YouTube video won't distract from writing too much.

It happens a lot. I get easily distracted, and tend to procrastinate if I'm not very motivated.
Have you tried printing out what you have and then writing on paper instead? I've found writing it down physically, albeit slower, takes away from the distractions.

I can easily type it up and proof it later without distractions.

For me, I experienced this during quiet moments like right before I go to bed or during a long commutes. That's when I starts to have a very brilliant idea.

Writing things down in my notes app or documents is a life saver as I tend to go back to them whenever I’m ready to finish the piece.

I find it a lot easier than writing things down on paper. I remember things a lot easier this way.

How often do you feel an urge to write something new while you're busy with other activities, like eating or watching a TV show?

Do you frequently have moments where you think, “I really should be writing right now”, or not so much?

I've experienced that a couple of times. It's just normal. Left for me, I should be writing all day lol.

I do that like all the time, and I think we all do have had that happen to us. Sometimes getting started feels like the hardest thing to do and I can actually swear that I always procrastinate. I’m fighting it real hard.

Once you can be able to fight procrastination, then you will surely go far in it. That is exactly what I like about writing. As you make up your mind, you are surely right up there.

Same here. Some days I’m just lazy and don’t let the words flow, but on other days, I let them run wild.

That’s honestly the best part about writing. I’ve noticed I’m a much better writer when I stop overthinking and just let the words roam freely like water flowing through a river. That’s when I’m at my best. It's crickets if I don't.

It happens to me as well. Have things been improving for you lately?

Well, I write every day, but my daily writing is for clients or the websites I work on. I rarely get the time to write what I want to write. Every day I get this though that I should really start with what I want to write but years have passed and I have not still started

Whenever I am less busy, I always have that urge to write. The only time I don't have the urge to write is when I am in the studio doing musical mixes. I get the urge to write everyday.

It's a great experience that you are always writing on the less busy time and your brain have conditioned that too. It calls you out to write something and it works perfectly.

When you are less busy, do you rack your brain looking for something to write or it will come out easily?

I experience this virtually everyday, especially when I'm idle, say on a bus ride. Sometimes it hits me and I get the thoughts that I should start writing. The good thing is that I get ideas without forcing it.

The idea will always come in with ease and not forcible. I mostly enjoy it if I'm going on a long journey. It will keep me busy till I reach my destination.

I get that feeling every now and then. There are times that I just write a few sentences on my phone and store in Google docs. It helps maintain my writing pace even when I do not have my laptop in front of me.

Google docs is a made easy for almost everybody. I can't go out all the time with my laptop but I have my phone with me 24/7 and your writing pace will be maintained.

@Alicia I get that too. Sometimes I’ll be scrolling through memes, then suddenly feel guilty about not writing. I’ve even opened my phone notes at midnight just to dump a quick idea so I don’t forget. To be honest, it happens way more often than I’d like to admit.

I have learnt not to procrastinate most of the time. That's how I have been able to handle a lot of it, trust me.

It's very good to write down ideas on notes so that we won't forget it when we needed to write. Memes can take our time, no matter how we tried to fight it.
