My favorite pet sims include Neopets, Dragon Cave, Pixel Cat's End, Chicken Smoothie, and Egg Cave. I have played many more, but those are the standouts.

I've spent hundreds and hundreds of hours playing Neopets in the 2020s and as a kid in the late 2000s. As an adult, I've made many successful resources for the Neopets community. 😀

I also played Neopets in the early Neopets in the early 2000's as a kid, but it's been quite some time since I last played.

Do you also play Flight Rising as well?

We currently don't have html banner links enabled for signatures, but if you replace it with BBcode, you'll be able to place it in your signature and the text/banner will appear correctly. ^.^

I did play Flight Rising, and I have a few dragons in the thread linked in my VPL profile. But for some reason (as an adult btw) I could not for the life of me figure out how any of the mechanics worked. The dragons are GORGEOUS and the genetics system is insanely complex with how many different variations there are to the dragon designs. It was genuinely the only pet site that had me stumped. I even tried watching some videos.

Thanks for the signature help! I saved a BB code version for exactly that reason 😛
 
I found 18 pet sites that are missing from the VP Directory. There are a couple of them that I haven't played much of, and I will have to ask for help with descriptions. I don't mind if someone else makes listings for those.
 
VPL has been my home for finding new pet sites for nearly 20 years. Welcome aboard @CoolKaius!

I believe @cpvr rebooted the forums a few years ago, but I respect his dedication to the virtual pet community.

You are welcome. I'm totally with you on that. I generally play Flight Rising for their battling system and their breeding systems. I tend to breed, sell some of the dragons and keep my original pairs. What was your favorite dragon on Flight Rising? We have some flight rising players on board here as well if you decide to play again. ^.^
It is possible that @Nathicana's review on Flight Rising may be able to give you more insights on that.

Also, how is Egg Cave doing these days? It's been quite some time since I last checked in over there.
 
@cpvr I found the review to be very interesting since I don't know much about the site. The only thing I feel confident in commenting on with it, is that concerns should be voiced to the staff privately and they absolutely should have the channels to do so. Having feedback be public on Goatlings is what caused the community to become so toxic, even a potential revival by new owners was shot down within a week.

Not referring to Goatlings when I say I wish people would appreciate free games and the effort being put into them. Definitely seems to be a lot of that here, which is exciting!

I'll DM you about the missing sites. I was surprised to find some obscure ones listed, but not more well known ones.

Egg Cave is still consistently putting out new pets and items at least once a month. I'm constantly impressed by how diverse and creative they are. I got really really into it from Oct to Dec 2025, even to the point of spending some money to get retired pets. The challenging nature of it engaged me, but I do think it's by far the hardest click to grow site I've ever played, and by a HUGE margin too. The community was incredibly kind and helpful to me while I was super active. The forums are extremely dead, which often makes the daily task of posting 3 times really hard, because you can't post twice in a row on a thread.
