I had a friend who worked for Nintendo (or a sub-contractor) to just play video games and report glitches in the gameplay. I believe their pay was $17.50/hour which comes out to be about $100 a day after taxes.
So is it possible to get paid to play games? Yes. Is it probable to get that position? No, but don't let not trying get in your way. That position was very competitive as they'd see hundreds of people before selecting someone for the position.
esports is pretty competitive too; I think you need to be well-known with stats and a lot of hours under your belt before a team will even take you on.
Streaming would likely be the route to get a game testing or professional gaming position quicker. As your audience grows, that's your resume essentially. However, as your audience grows, so does your revenue through donations and/or streams, which could be a lot more money than an actual 9-5 job, unless you found a Silicon Valley job that pays a lot, but the cost of living there is insane.
