I feel like this is a project that I just have been working on in my spare time and when I can.

This is just a reminder that I am still working on it and still utilizing the art I had commissioned for the project when we were all kids. Nearly 20 years later, and I have managed to keep up with the Kinopiron flashdrive. It hasn't been easy- lol.

Anyways. I wanted to do a post here to establish the sneak peeks and upcoming website of Kinopiron which is also being programmed to be mobile friendly.
I am a one man show so this might take some time.

current inspiration for Kinopiron: Misticpets. Misticpets was a huge part of my childhood as well as neopets but neopets is so discombobulated that I can't find my way around... there's SO MUCH! So minimalist version of a petsite, focusing heavy on socializing and quests ...

working on the friend system now. I start my new job today so I am going from 6-8 hours daily coding to 2 hours. Thankfully, I have a lot of the bigger things done with minor bugs/glitches for me to fix that would take that 2 hour block to work on... For the friend system: all i have left to do is enable accept/decline and connect it with the notification system.

I did a 2 hour coding sprint today after work... decided to do a little upgrading and get out of boring millenial vibes and add a little more spice.

I built the forums today and might update the newsfeed to match the forums because I like the bubble style:

I did 10 hours of coding today.. called into work and everything. It was a pretty bad morning for me... my coffee pot broke... insert extremely mad mad face.

anyways. I got some feedback through and went to town working on it today.

forums got a little bit of a makeover. I made the categories a little smaller. Some do not like the bubble- some do... I do... I think I will keep the bubble but will be incorporating category icons soon....ish....

Added icons on threads. Yellow if this is a thread that you have not opened... grey if you did. EVENTUALLY... It will be an actual moon.

worked on mod/admin powers... so now mod/admins can lock/unlock and pin threads ... as well as edit/delete to make it seamless when monitoring forums. Updated the post a reply box and centered it, making it smaller and less of an eyesore... Oh ... and some emojis!

this are generic copy/paste emojis ... Maybe one day will update to Kinopiron themed but for right now ... this is that and that is this...

The pound is completely DONE... Like... I am not looking back on it at all for a while until after phase two. I will update it more then but for now... It is doing what a pound does... adopt/pound and browsing through the pound.

Notification system was worked on as well today. I blended it in with the sight and the main theme colors. "View all notifications" is not situated yet ... I might even just remove it entirely. Have not decided yet.

and this was just to show that threads can be locked to where members can't post after admin/mod locks it... the reply box disappears... I will work tomorrow on adding "edited by -- mod"

but tomorrow's plans are... building the group function and the my pet page where you can make pets active pets.. feed, groom, play - etc. If I can keep focused and get those two things done.. I would be golden and great. I am waiting for my artist to get back with me on items for me to work on the shop/inventory.

Was working on a game idea I had for the game room... then got side tracked and honestly not my fault.

anyways;; I jumped into a rabbit hole and figured out how to do avatars properly and cleaner? I still need a lot of work but here are three I did!

I am calling it quits for today. I accomplished 7 hours today of coding and this is what I completed:

• groups (also finished the spreadsheet so I can get everything in my head organized... details of the groups will be hidden until release because it is unique and I am SO EXCITED about it)
• group management/member roles/create group/delete group/group feed for chatting
• I fixed the message button at the bottom of the screen FINALLY and decided to spend some time on styling it and making it pretty... allowing it to flow with Kinopiron default style and upgrading it a bit
• I also fixed the friend page and made it easier on the eyes
• started working on settings for users... -.- I know ... should have been the first thing but it is JUST me on this web stuff and bro... I have adhd so bad. lol

I still need to style this better but for now this is what it is and that is that... -.-

I will revisit groups later but the bones are there.

I am getting ready to move towards testing phase for the public... Here is the progress so far.

So today... I woke up sick. So today - I decided... I should do light work since all of my static pages are now no longer static pages! Everything else, I have to build from scratch and that will take longer than my normal quick work...

Anyways. I have been making some avatars...

I might redo them in the future, these are just the defaults... but I am having to teach myself as I go and they may not be "professional grade" or perfect .. but .. They are super duper adorable.

I had covid... I am better now. Kind of. While sick, I worked on the media css file and still have yet to go through and style it. I DID, however, restyle groups page. I am still working on this over the next few days and moving things around until I find what I am looking for. The image is in my head- I am just trying to figure out how to get it alive. I also worked on dark mode toggle.

I prefer dark mode in whatever I am in .. dark mode toggle is available in the drop down menu from the user's menu at the top right. It literally is just a switch. I do plan to have more "custom" layouts but that isn't a priority for me at this moment.

Today, I worked a little bit more on the admin dashboard enough to safely find a stopping point. Users can now succesfully block other users which prevents them from seeing each other's posts, comments, profiles, etc. You become a ghost to each other, basically.

I then did some research around other petsites because I didn't like the forums I designed. They are pretty poor looking.. very basic. Decided I would take something similiar to Flight Rising and introduce it here... and sheesh... I love it so much now!

I purchased numerous texture packs from itch.io and they will be temporarily used until I can find artists who can help me with Kinopiron.
These textures are now called "avatar backgrounds". They will be received by default, through contests and group quests as rewards, available in shops for site currency and eventually there will be some available in the premium shop I am still trying to design.

Did I get anything else productive done?
Nope.
But I made things pretty and now I feel a little less nervous about phase one testing being released soon.

My daughter had surgery so I wasn't able to aggressively rot at my desk for a bit... only a few minutes at a time. Not going to lie... I could have played less call of duty and did more coding ... but that is neither here nor there and we listen and we don't judge.

Here are some things I finally finished/ worked on/ in the works/ etc

feeding your pet now provides "fed" which I will change to "hunger" ... why is it fed? Probably because I forgot the word hunger at that specific time because... ADHD. Playing with toys with your pet now provides happiness. How to prevent virtual financial abuse in the game? Well... Keep your pet fed and happy if you want to play games... Right now it depletes quick but I am testing it out to find that "sweet spot"

We have Item Inventory and Settings Inventory. What is settings inventory? Glad you asked...

i absolutely loathe scrolling through news posts to find information on events for the site. So I incorporated it into the right side bar and it is now fully functioning!
Admins/Mods can easily link the news post to the events as well making it easier to see more details for the event. This just gives the timeline for the user.

still working on bookmarks. Right now, can only be bookmarked with links but eventually I will add a thumbnail or something to be able to easily bookmark pages.

& that is all. Next:

• do some more work on admin panel / report / report bug
• finish designing NaviiMiki aka the Guide Bot for Kinopiron which with help from a dev friend will be similiar to an ai help bot?
• work on create a pet and make it more .... pretty....
• work on Terms & Condition and finalize registration/verification

Oh no... All I have left to do is finalize registration and verification and I can release the site for phase one testing... and this makes me nervous. I am literally about to cry because the kid inside of me who started Kinopiron in 2009... she finally gets to finish her project... even if no one plays... or interested... it is finished and she can say "I did this."

Teaching myself Blender so I can make items for Kinopiron... When I say I am a "one man show". I mean it.
We are getting somewhere though!​

This is a sign that you can literally do anything that you put your mind to. I decided to jump into the full rabbit hole of Blender and discovered you could do 3d creatures with digital clay. After 5 hours.... I now have a base to work with tomorrow.​

nearly a week later and potions are done. I am now moving to the next set of items... I think books... maybe...​

Finally... I think I have been working on this game for 2 months and testing it here and there. I will be honest. I cried a lot and screamed a little... Not even going to lie there. BUT ... Most important part is ... I figured it out. I still need to style it... but that can happen later... right? Because when I tell you... I am tired of staring at this game and contemplating my sanity... ugh! Anyways ;; Think Neopets CHEAT! but a simpler version with catty ai players. One thing I hate about the neo version is the constant page turning. I wanted everything to be on the same page. This was a lot harder than I thought and now I realize why they coded it the way they did. It gives you a huge appreciation for the OG pet sites out there when you start coding one yourself.

I then decided we needed something easier to play:

But not that easy. Lol. You have to beat all 10 rounds to get your reward. Oops. lol
Anyways. I needed to create crystals because that is how you change the color of the pet (topaz, amethyst, emerald, sapphire, onyx, silver, ruby, normal). I sat all day in blender watching tutorials and messing around and finally coming to an agreement with myself on a crystal bundle look vs a singular crystal. Decided the color game would be awesome to add the crystals to because.. SITE LORE is what we are creating here.. okay.

Does it truly matter though in an industry that seems like it is dying? At this point, it seems like I am just designing something my kids can play peacefully with a few friends of mine.

Mobile version - almost complete but for the most part functional.
Dark mode - looking great but don't ever just code while viewing your project in dark mode because you will forget and code everything as if it is indeed... full dark mode... I am a baby coder after all and I am human and I will make mistakes.

The best thing is - I am learning something and hoping Kinopiron will open more windows for me in the future.

Now I am staring at my screen trying to decide which mini games to work on next while ignoring the fact I still have like 150+ items to create in blender.
Because... ADHD​

It has been WILD... I have been going through fixing all bugs known to man for Phase One testing... yesterday I finished everything and now can work on things to prepare for Phase Two!

As you can see, I have already done a few things from other phases earlier than planned and I have a few things to pull out of my hat for Phase Two that could really set Kinopiron in it's own bracket of VPS.

** Interactive guidebot who provides help guides upon request.
** random events so users already on Kinopiron can start collecting map pieces to get Calarian Pets.
** Log in rewards for daily activity
** Quests will make an appearance in Phase Two for users specifics, not group quests yet.
** Two more games to add to the game room

so far, I have been working on the interactive bot and feel like that is above and beyond my experience but the perfectionist inside of me is pushing through. I will figure it out. I have 3 hours allotted today for coding and I hope my next update will be that NaviiMiki is finally live and ready to help new users!
