Hello, I am the founder of VVP [Vakaroria Virtual Pets], and am the lead dev/director of Galactic Games Studio.

I started creating my site back in 2021 by way of lore and trying to plan out features and such. In 2023 I started to try and code the site from scratch on my own using HTML/CSS and JS. Well last month we converted all my original code into svelte/css and are now using php and mysql for the back end.

My brother was serving as my back end coder, but he had a sudden serious issue pop up IRL that he needs to step back and focus on for an undetermined amount of time, which could be anywhere from a couple weeks to 4-6 years. So I am here in search of someone who is knowledgeable in PHP and mysql that can also read/write and understand svelte and css and be able to link them together from front end to back end.

I can not offer immediate payment as I am currently forced into the position of a stay at home mom since I currently do not have anyone to watch my kids so I can work a "real" job, but I can offer a generous amount from our kickstarter funds once the site has progressed enough that we can confidently launch our kickstarter between alpha testing and beta testing phases. I can also offer a percentage of funds raked in from premium currency and merch sales. My 3 artists, my brother [when he was able to help], and my front end coder are all working on a volunteer basis until that time comes, and I need a knowledgeable coder for the back end willing to do the same, as I can not currently afford to pay out of pocket like I had originally wanted to.

The site isn't too far off from being able to open for closed alpha testing, we just have to get some features implemented and working, get a few kinks in the current site code ironed out, and a bit more art done, and it'll be ready for closed alpha testing.

If this interests you please feel free to let me know. If you choose to help with this we can discuss what fee you would normally charge for work like this, and I can calculate that into the kickstarter fund amount!

I should also add that having a discord account is a must as we have an official discord for the site, and a staff/dev discord where we communicate on everything.

Please understand that this started as a passion project for me, and quickly became something I am very serious about making even more of a reality than it already is.

I'm no expert but I wouldn't mind helping out here and there. Really depends on what you need tbh as I'm working solo on my own VP site, but I like experience!

Right now I need someone who can help properly set up the mysql database so that when we're ready for registration to open for the site we won't have to manually hash everyone's info like my brother was having to do since setting the database up. I also need someone who can get the registration form set up how I would like and have it properly connected to the database. Help with breeding code and custom pet creation code, as well as getting the existing species, markings, and traits into the backend database is also needed.

There's still a lot to do that I personally have no idea how to do. Which is why I'm hoping to find someone who can work on this at least a few hours a day or so, so that our development progress doesn't come to a halt. VVP means a lot to me, and I really don't want to see the progress for it die just because my brother can no longer help at this point in time.

Hi,

I could probably help out in regards to sorting out some issues and possibly feature implementation. I'm not too versed in PHP (not had much opportunity with it except dabbling with a few game frameworks) but have spent the last 8 years as a software developer so programming / problem solving / documentation is my day-to-day.

Let me know if this helps,

Thanks
