I need a designer to help improve our user onboarding and retention on our pet site. We keep adding popular features, but new player retention hasn't improved in a decade. The site is struggling despite us working around the clock to try and fix things. Everything we try fails. I need a step-by-step guide to redesign our game for better signup and retention. Our community is highly resistant to changes, but our onboarding intro is overlaid on the site in a way that changing it completely would not interfere with the experience of established players. So it might be best to focus there.
Basics of the job:
- Analyze current onboarding and retention issues. I can provide a walkthrough with screenshots and summary as well as a summary of our site's history with regards to what we have changed/added/tried over the years.
- Develop a detailed step-by-step redesign guide--this one's the most important. We get plenty of people informing us what's wrong, and virtually no advice on how to fix it that has proven effective. Our attempts to come up with something and fix it on our own have repeatedly resulted in, at best, new features that are popular with existing users and do nothing to improve signup or retention of new users.
- Suggest improvements that align with successful pet sites like Lorwolf and Flight Rising. This one is flexible as although it's important to retain what identifies us as part of our niche, I'm very open to utilising strategies not normally seen in it, as long as it aligns well and has proven successful in other similar games.
The consultant MUST have experience playing/designing/managing these kinds of virtual pet sites. You need to understand our niche and what sets it apart from other games/websites.
