Monster Hunter has teamed up with Digimon for a very special line of 20th-anniversary V-Pets. Zinogre and Rathalos designs have been revealed and each of them is available for pre-order.
The devices have LCD color screens and feature 36 creatures from the Monster Hunter series.

The anticipation for Monster Hunter Wilds is still intense (just five more months to go, hang in there!), but in a way, the delay has been a silver lining. If the new game had launched during Monster Hunter’s 20th anniversary year, Capcom might have focused solely on that, instead of releasing an array of celebratory merchandise. Among the most exciting anniversary releases are the Digimon V-Pets, which could easily be the highlight of Monster Hunter's birthday festivities.

Originally released in the late '90s, V-Pets were Digimon's answer to Tamagotchis, offering a way to distinguish the brand from Pokémon amid copycat accusations. Like a Tamagotchi, V-Pets allow players to care for and raise their creatures, but Digimon's version added elements like battles and evolution. Now, with the Monster Hunter collaboration, Capcom’s most iconic monsters are brought into the mix.

Fans can choose between two special 20th-anniversary V-Pet models featuring Zinogre and Rathalos. The design of the device reflects the monster inside—Zinogre’s model features green and yellow tones, while Rathalos’s comes in a reddish-brown and white color scheme. Each V-Pet contains 36 different monsters from the Monster Hunter universe, including Tigrex and Mizutsune.

Both Monster Hunter x Digimon V-Pets are available for pre-order, so the big question is: Zinogre, Rathalos, or both?

Unlike typical V-Pets, these special edition devices feature LCD color screens, which, along with their limited availability and shipping costs, push the price to $99.99 each. They’re available for pre-order now at Big Bad Toy Store, with shipments expected in February 2025.
