New ‘Power: Origins’ Prequel Coming To Starz

The Power Universe is expanding with a new Power: Origins prequel being green lit by Starz. The new show is the fifth installment of the ongoing series.

According to Deadline, the new series chronicles the lives of Ghost and Tommy as “ambitious young entrepreneurs on the rise, determined to make their mark on the streets of New York City.”

The premiere season will be 18 episodes long starring MeKai Curtis, star of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, as Kanan Stark.


Sascha Penn, showrunner, writer and executive producer, expressed her excitement about the new series in a statement.

I’m excited to continue to explore the origin stories of the Power Universe’s founding fathers,” said Sascha Penn, showrunner, writer and executive producer, in a statement. “Ghost and Tommy’s backstories have fueled years of constant fascination and speculation among fans, and I’m thrilled to be able to answer some long-held questions and share new layers of the story that viewers won’t see coming.”

“Our fans have been asking for Ghost and Tommy’s origins story since we first met them in Power — and with the launch of this series, we’re delivering in a big way,” Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming for Starz added. “This marks an electrifying new chapter in the franchise’s evolution as we dive deep into the legacy of these iconic characters and the explosive moments that shaped their path.”

The “Power” Universe series is executive-produced by the creator and showrunner of the original Power, Courtney A. Kemp, through her production company, End of Episode, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, through G-Unit Film and Television.

It’ll be interesting to watch the rise of Ghost and Tommy, especially when they were younger. I’ll definitely be watching this as soon as it comes out, but what about you?

Force is done as is as is Ghost, this is apart of the expansion together. 50 also has other shows lined up besides Power. He also has BMF, which is now on season 4. The oath is another series that he launched and created, it has 2 seasons though.

He may have some shows lined up in the near future though.

It should of ended after the original Power. I lost interest after Ghost died. I did watch Force(never finished), and BMF(also didn't finish). They're all basically remakes of each other in my opinion.

This one should work if it is written well. Ghost and Tommy's early days could be one of the most interesting stories to tell.

Perhaps. It's the same thing with a lot of other shows and movies in Hollywood. Power isn't any different.

Tommy did the series well with Force and Tariq isn't that great with Powerbook: Ghost. However, Raising Kanan is pretty good. Raising Kanan actually set the tone for most of them. It should have been the first in the series.

BMF is also good though.

In my opinion Power: The Origins has the potential to shake the movie industry based on what I have been reading about it. It's gonna be a great watch.

It's something that sounds like it might add new depth to this franchise. And properly put the series in a new path.

After the first Power show, the one which Ghost featured, it's Book IV : Force that's the next best in the whole franchise.
