Oripets - A Modern Virtual Pet Site (Testing Open!)​

Oripets is a virtual pet site created in the vein of traditional pet sites but brought to a modern audience.

One thing I noticed when playing neopets is the pets have responses about the items they use, but they mostly felt random and unimportant breaking immersion. So instead of simply random responses, pets have actual likes and dislikes. That's for food, toys, and even grooming items! One pet may like Lavendar soap, one prefers a lovely Spring scent.

You can view your pets likes and dislikes at anytime, and pets can get used to things over time, just like people. Of course they can also get bored of things over time too if that's all they have with no break between. So keep life interesting for them with variety!

@Sheep Oh that's interesting. But I am thinking it just looks like it. The cheese version is a little generic. But this was created by someone else named Travis who created and sold a lot of art at the time and actually it has a whole set of customization options with it as well for different toppings.

What are your plans as far as the restocking system goes and shopping? ^.^ Will the restocking system be timed, or random?

Thanks! For restocking we have a system that accounts for whether users are visiting the shop or not along with some random variance. Right now it looks like I have it set between every 14-18 minutes or so. But of course that might be adjusted as we get users on there. We do have a few fetch quests added in as well, and try to make it simple and easy to find items. You can use the site search to find items, and then on the item details page it'll tell you whether you already have the item somewhere (inventory, gallery, shop, safety box) and how many, as well as where it restocks (if it does) a quick link to that shop as well as a quick search option to user shops and the marketplace. So just more convenience features for things overall.

In oripets your pets have their own pet pages! All pets have a default page which will show their image by default and display in a nice old style of page with their photo and things like their hobby and location. Or you can edit the pet page with a live editor that shows your updates as you edit! You also don't have to worry about losing your changes if you accidently close the page, we store the update locally until your ready to save them!

Yeah I realized that shortly after, I got confused since it was so long ago!

I am excited to see more on Oripets though, it looks great so far. <3

Understandable. Brought up the memory either way! And Oripets is certainly supposed to remind about the past pet sites, just hopefully improved to be more responsive and modern. Technology has much improved so hoping the game will be an improvement as well.
