Should members be banned for off site issues?

Do you think that users shouldn’t be banned for off site issues or do you feel that members should get banned for off site issues? Share your opinions and thoughts.
 
If they're a known scammer, ban them. It's better to have a toxic free environment.
 
It depends on what they are doing and the intentions that they have. If it is one that has to do with legitimacy of what they are doing, then they should be banned for it.
 
I think it depends on what they're doing, if they're causing issues for the players and the sites involved then they should be banned. If whatever they're doing doesn't affect the game/website/players then I don't think they should be banned.

If anything they're doing doesn't have any effects on the games or website and players, it's not worth banning. People need to have their lives outside games. But when it's an off site stuff which affects the site, games and players, they will need to go.
 
I think that depends on what they do off-site. Are they bashing people on another website? Are they toxic on another website/game? If so they really can bring your game/website down. I know when I used to play Elder Scrolls Online the community was super toxic. Both in-game and on the forum. Bethesda could only control the forum and couldn't control anything in the game. And it made a terrible game experience for a lot of people.

True! I used to play Elder Scrolls Online too but I ended up having to quit playing the game as a result of how toxic the gaming community used to be.
 
This is a good question but it is also something that many pet sites have to be cautious about when it comes to something someone has done off-site.

I would say that it depends on what the individual did in the first place off-site, for example, if they are promoting hacking or exploiting off-site that can be proven then I feel that warrants a permanent ban.

What has been the craziest reason you have seen someone banned from a pet site?

Scamming can be considered as a crazy thing to do right? It's what I've seen most people get banned for on pet sites because it's something done off site that have implications on the site and can also be used to harm gamers on the site.
 
It depends on what they are doing. If it's only issues that they cause for other players, then they need to be banned. If whatsoever they are doing are legit and it doesn't affect any of the players, sites or even the game as a whole, they should be left to do their things.
 
I don't think members should be banned for off-site issues. Reason is - what happens outside of the community shouldn't affect a user's participation in the site. Unless it's a very severe case. I just believe in keeping online and offline life separate.

I disagree, If a member is exhibiting some kind of toxic behavior outside of the site, it's very much likely to bring such attitude into their online interactions. I think the moderators should consider off-site behavior too whenever they are making decisions about banning.

Well, you have a point. But where do we draw the line between off-site behavior and on-site actions? It would even be difficult for moderators to handle such situations.

There are some habits/attitudes that can't be left out or be ignored. The moderators can also put some rules in or outside the community so that there will be coordination while on-site and off-site.
 
It depends on what is going on, if it is something that will negatively affect the forum, then yes, ban them and keep the drama off.
