Subscriptions in video games

What do you think of subscriptions in video games?

Personally, I don't like them. I prefer paying once and know that there won't be anything else that I need to buy to be able to play. And also, subscription costs stack over time. But unfortunately, in some games, it will be very hard to progress if you don't pay. You have to do it or quit the game.

I don't mind MMORPG subscriptions, because they help pay for updates, servers, etc. But games like Call OF Duty that keep pushing a season pass is very annoying.

I don't mind subscriptions in video games if it is a game that I play frequently and I enjoy.

I have in the past bought subscriptions in Apex Legends, Fortnite and even Destiny 2 and if I were to start playing them a lot again, I would more than likely purchase a subscription again.

Nah not for me, if I'm paying £50 for a video game, I expect to be able to play it for as long as possible. Annoyed me when Nintendo started charging me to play Mario Kart online!

It is a business but it really depends how they implement it.
In a game I play, they've implemented it as the only way to progress. You may play without the subscription but you won't progress. It will feel so boring and it will be a waste of time. They force players to subscribe that way.

I almost never touch subscriptions for anything. It's rare. Just a few things like Netflix Basic, internet, bills, etc. I usually go for one-time purchases or keep with free-to-play.

I hate subscriptions and micro transactions in games. All I want to do is just purchase it once and start playing. If it requires any monetary transactions I’m out.

I do not like subscriptions, I either want to pay and have access for life time or pay as you go (or let's say micro transactions). Generally speaking, I avoid playing subscription based games.

Glad to hear that most people don't like subscriptions in games. If I subscribe, I feel like I'm obligated to play the game just so I make use of my subscription. It doesn't feel that fun anymore.
