The Fediverse: Should more platforms start using it?

The fediverse is a collection of social networking services that can communicate with each other using a common protocol. Users from different websites can send and receive status updates, multimedia files, and other data across the network. The term Fediverse is a portmanteau of federation and universe.


Currently, Bluesky, Mastodon, Threads, Discourse, NodeBB, and Lemmy are all part of the fediverse, with WordPress and Tumblr planning to join in the near future.


Do you think more platforms should start joining the fediverse?
Do you see it as the future of social media?
Should every platform be able to talk to each other as “one”?

Absolutely more platforms should be integrated into the Fediverse for sure! I hope more forum software will join soon, Discourse and NodeBB are decent but I prefer the traditional software like Xenforo.

More platforms must make a move to join the Fediverse. With decentralized social networking, the whole concept becomes so appealing.
