Thoughts on gender equality?

This was a hot discussion in my office yesterday as we had those who insisted that gender equality existed and should be respected. Do you think men and women are truly equal?

Men and women are truly equal. We are only obeying the instructions to be submissive to men. Assuming I have a son and a daughter and I need to do something for them, because I am seeing them to be equal, anything I give to my son is the same thing I will give to my daughter. I don't have a favouritism among any of them. If we work towards a equitable society, regardless of gender, both men and women can thrive and contribute to the betterment of the society.

All human beings are equal as far as I'm concerned. Although, when you ask to be treated equally, you shouldn't be asking for preferential treatment based on your sex for being a woman. Everything done to a man should be done to you as well as long it have to do with working.

There shouldn't be any issues at this time, people should get paid on what they know and their skill set and knowledge, nothing else.

Exactly! You can't demand to be paid higher based on your sex. It doesn't matter if you're a man or woman, what you earn should be based on what you can do.

Every human being is equal in my eyes irrespective of their sex. It's the same blood that runs in the veins of man and woman. There's no difference.

I have witnessed in a lot of places where people are discriminated at their work places simply because of their sex and race which is something that is very wrong and shouldn't be happening in the world today.
