Threads, Meta’s social platform, has reached an impressive milestone of 275 million monthly active users (MAUs), as announced by the company on Sunday. Adam Mosseri, who oversees Threads and Instagram, expressed gratitude for this achievement, acknowledging both the challenges ahead and the excitement surrounding the platform’s growth.





Since its launch in July 2023, Threads was designed to attract users migrating from X (formerly Twitter) after Elon Musk’s acquisition. The app has seen rapid user adoption, hitting 150 million MAUs by April and reaching 200 million by August, indicating a gain of 75 million users in just three months. During a recent Q3 2024 earnings call, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that the platform attracts around one million new sign-ups daily.


Despite this positive growth trajectory, Threads is currently grappling with several moderation challenges that have caused some user dissatisfaction .

Elon can be doing whatever he likes, the reason being that people have been on X before you bought it and there's no way they can just leave unless there's another social app like Threads that can do better.

I joined Threads about a year ago, I was active in the beginning but I could remain active because I am using multiple social platforms and it is not possible to be active on too many platforms

The average person won’t switch over, and while I think X still has its issues, it’s simply too big. Threads has Facebook in its corner, and maybe one day it could become bigger than X. I have little faith in Bluesky becoming the top platform.

The thing with social media, every platform has its own fan base, and it's own liking.

Whether one platform grows, or not, remains to be seen. Some thought Bluesky wouldn't grow when it first launched, and they did. I have faith in every platform on the internet, and I believe that they all succeed in one way or another.

I don't like Twitter so I haven't used it in a very long time. I'm surprised that Threads is pretty active though, I logged into my account for the first time in a while a few weeks ago. I feel like it will never be as popular as Twitter since it's been around longer.
