Donald J. Trump just won the 2024 election. President Elect Trump will be getting inaugurated on January 20, 2025 as the 47th President of The United States after the Electoral College vote on January 6th 2025.

Personally, I believe that after the assassination attempt on his life, his chances to win the election skyrocketed.

Big congratulations to him. I see that most Americans are very happy with his win and that is a sign of great things to come.

I heard it was even 2 assassination attempts that was made on his life and plus all the silly court case by the Democrats against him rallied so much people behind him.

I'm not happy with the outcome of the election, and I hope the next four years will not be hell for me or other trans people. I'm afraid, more afraid than in 2016. Project 2025 and Agenda 47 are both terrible laws that may get passed easier now that the Republicans control the senate and white house. Not a good day for democracy IMO, how a convicted felon won let alone was able to run for president is beyond me. I will continue to do what I need to do, live my life and see how things play out. If things go down south, I will take measures to moving out of this country.

Do everything possible to stay safe mate. It's one who's alive that's a winner.

I have to agree with you I don't know how people convicted of crimes can hold office when in some states they aren't even allowed to vote. I've moved away from America because there's no way for me to guarantee my future kids a good quality of life with the gun control issues and lack of access to important services. But I still have family there and I worry about how their lives will be in the next 4 years hopefully not too unstable.

Yes, you’re right. I also think that the assassination attempt boosted his chances. This is what solidifies his support base. However, we should think of other factors like the Electoral College vote. I think that gives him the edge.

Kamala Harris did try because it was a tight race. Her campaign gained significant traction but the results show Trump's popularity, but I still give to Harris for such a good result.

Elaborate please
I'd like to understand the fear too. He had 4 years to ruin the country beginning in 2016 and would've done it immediately if that was ever his goal.

I don't like getting too political in public, but if you have actual fears about it, you can PM them to me and I will try to explain to you how it's wrong if you're willing to leave your echo chamber of fear porn.

I feel like people just erased the fact that under trump we had people in cages at the border and separated children from their families without sufficient documentation or plans to even return them to their parents. Trump even was floating the idea of withdrawing from NATO and if we had I don't even want to imagine where the world would be right now. This us versus them mentality ends up being the problem with a two-party system people don't end up voting their interest they pick a side and don't typically move away from that. More importantly, using comments like fear porn really doesn't lay the ground to have an open discussion. People have real tangible fears, the supreme court justices that Trump put in place repealed abortion rights, repealed affirmative action these were groundbreaking cases that improved quality of life for women and minorities. Now he has the power to continue moving the country in that direction and that is a real fear for people whose lives it will affect. That might not be you and you might not care, but that doesn't give you any rights to dimmish someone else's concerns.

Argh, not even going to reply anymore. So much more fear porn without actually looking into any of the allegations made.

Other than a strong rise to narcissism and hate, we elected a criminal to lead our country and have given power to a party that wishes to undermine all middle and below classes.

Elaborate on that with the proposal of tariffs and how that will hurt the lower and middle class in the long-term.

Harris wouldnt have done any better. Everytime she is brought to a question she fumbles and mubles and cant even get to the point.

We re-elected a man who has been chase and hounded by the criminal system from day one he left the office previously, now he has power again, that alone is cause for fear.

Well honestly, I just hope the quality of life for all Americans improves. It's a shame there aren't more options politically, but the election is over now it would be better for the country for people to live in harmony with a little more empathy for their fellow neighbors.

I have no doubt that things are going to be better for Americans. He's already stated he's going to enforce Section 230 rules on the social media companies so that they can no longer decide what is or is not disinformation and instead allow people to form their own opinions. He's going to close the border and enforce the laws that already exist and make sure that people who come to this country do so the correct way and do not abuse the asylum claims.

What he should've done was repeal Section 230 the first time and he would've won 2020 with no problem, or if he had done something similar to this the first round, it'd be in the bag.

The laptop story wouldn't have been suppressed, putting him over the edge, possibly in a landslide too.
