Tumblr changes their ad free browsing to Premium

Tumblr has recently changed their ad-free browsing option to Tumblr Premium, which includes a subscription that costs $69 a year or $6.99 a month.

The premium option gives you the ability to have more likes, increased posts, photos, and videos.

You can also blaze one post on a monthly basis, get exclusive access to upcoming features, enjoy ad-free browsing, and receive a free goodie for yourself or a friend from the TumblrMart.






What are your thoughts on Tumblr’s new premium option?

That's disappointing! Tumblr's ad-free browsing was a major draw for me and I'm so sure it's the same for most of their users too.

You have a very good point because Tumblr's inclusive atmosphere is what draws people in. This change may really drive the users to the alternative platforms like Mastodon or Discord.

Even the die-hards will fade out. From what I understand of the user base, it's comprised mainly of a lot of unemployed people running blogs in their free time. Please excuse me if I got that wrong, but with a lower-class user base, they are charging way too much for services.

They're going to lose a lot more than the casual user in my opinion.

They are gradually drifting away from the concept that made them so popular. I foresee a great mistake and I hope they won't regret this later

Thank you but I will pass on this one. I don't and have never find anything about the site useful to me that would warrant me paying $69 per year for it.
