What’s the most overhyped game you’ve played?

To me, No Man's Sky falls flat. Too much repetition and large loads of technical issues makes it difficult to play. In your opinion, what’s the most overhyped game you’ve played?
 
No Man's Sky was definitely a letdown for me too. All that hype for a game wasn't what I experienced. Another game that didn't live up to the hype for me was Fallout 76. I mean, it lack compelling narrative and it has poor gameplay mechanics.
 
Black Myth: Wukong was very well hyped. It wasn't a complete failure because the action adventure game boasted millions of players and millions of copies which was sold. Sadly, the game was accused of being a Chinese propaganda which wasn't received well by US gamers.
 
I would probably say Hogwarts Legacy. But I'm a big Harry Potter fan so I figured it would have to take a lot for me to not like the game.

I didn't like Hogwarts Legacy so much because Harry Potter wasn't in the game. I had to play it because it's in the Harry Potter franchise.
 
Elden Ring. I was expecting it to replace Elder Scrolls for me when I bought it, but the game was way too hard for me to advance.
 
Throne and Liberty mmorpg. It had a lot of potential but the execution was terrible I feel like a major feature was to have diversity of class builds but healers and tanks were super restricted, and they didn't release enough content very disappointed in it.

It is always disappointing and frustrating to play a game that falls short of our expectations. I have had this experience many times. Those games become less interesting because they lack diversity and the let people down as a result of that.

TOTK was massive but yeah, the story didn’t hit as hard for me either. The gameplay is amazing though, no denying that. Some games get too hyped and it just raises our expectations too high. I like it, but it's not the masterpiece people made it sound like.

I will have to definitely agree with you. This game got a lot of media attention because it was written by someone who wrote Game of Thrones
 
BioWare has built quite a reputation as a game developer. And they announced they would be releasing a game called Anthem. Trailers were flying everywhere on social media and it seemed like we were going to see a revolutionary game in its genre. Anthem turned out to be a huge disappointment. The content was thin, the grind was repetitive. The gameplay loop was shallow too. Overhyped was an understatement.
