There are so many mechanics that make you roll your eyes and also wonder what the developers were actually thinking. For me, I will go with the quick-time events (QTEs).

Escort missions is my top pick. There's absolutely nothing worse than having to babysit an NPC who is ready to walk into danger zones.

I know that Escort missions are so worst. And I think another terrible mechanic is repetitive grinding, like in some of the RPGs. I see it as some mindless chores.

What developers don't know is that those QTEs are barriers to entry that aren't necessary. There are people that have issues with dexterity or they have slower reaction times. times. They truly can't cope with something like a sudden rapid rush button mash. It can be quite annoying.

I think unskippable cutscenes, slow escort missions, pay-to-win systems, excessive grinding, random difficulty spikes, and poor save systems are some of the worst game mechanics. These mechanics frustrate players by wasting time, removing control, or making progress feel unfair.

Escort missions was horrible. I wouldn't wish that game on even my enemy because playing it feels like going through hell.
