What has Threads done wrong?

Threads is a social media app developed then during the time Elon Musk bought Twitter. What do you make of the app? A lot of people opened an account there in those days, but it seems the platform is not being talked about much nowadays. What do you think has changed so far?

Went the way of Google's social sites, which I can't recall its name, but only lasted about a year and dropped off the face of the world.

This is the point where I don't get where they are getting the stats that they post because some of my friends that used to make use of them finally decided to focus on X and Bluesky. Threads has got a lot of work to do should they aim to become better.

The crap that's happening to me on Instagram is the reason why I didn't want to have any experience of sort on Threads because the both sites are linked together.

It’s similar to Twitter but owned by Facebook. It was created as a Twitter alternative and launched about a year ago.

Mark Zuckerberg seems not to have pushed Thread as he did for Facebook, and that must have contributed to the downfall. I still believe him and the team should have done more.

Exactly! They waited until Bluesky started gaining traction before implementing new features—it seems like they were worried about the competition. They had the potential to do a lot last year when they first launched, but starting without even the bare minimum features wasn’t a great idea.


The app also feels more like Instagram now, with so many pictures appearing in the feed.



They’re claiming to have 300 million monthly active users now, but do you believe that?

Threads is just another alternative to X. It offers nothing outside of the box, which is why majority have stuck with X.

The basic thing that Threads did wrong was trying to be another X. People registered at that time hoping they would find something that stands it out from X. People left Threads when they discovered that it was just a rebranded version of X.

Threads actually has a feeds system, which X doesn't have. There are some features that make the app unique compared to X. They're similar in some ways, but not an exact copy-clone of one another.

Threads is more of a copy of Instagram now than that of X. Over time, the app developers have improved so many features on the interface.

Well, when it first launched it felt pretty bare bones and it's missing a lot of features people were used to having on Twitter. The algorithm can be weird sometimes too, showing you random posts from people you don't follow instead of your actual feed.

Threads is more of a copy of Instagram now than that of X. Over time, the app developers have improved so many features on the interface.

They're basically synced together by the backend, so they're definately clones in some type of way. I wouldn't be surprised if some of instagram scripts were used to build Threads in the beginning.

Which is kind of why they're slowly rolling out new features over time, especially group features(now) which was recently released and along with new hashtags.

Threads' algorithm/instagram also has a direct approach on your facebook activity, so they're all directly tied together. So if an account has an issue on of their platforms, all of them will have an issue. Also, if your threads or instagrams account gets a ton of likes/comments, it is more than likely that your facebook account will see the same activity.


Threads algorithm is vastly different than X's too.
