We all have encountered one or two frustrations when we play pet games. I played one recently, and it drives me crazy. It was some unsolicited ads that kept popping up while I was playing games. OMG! It was extremely frustrating for me.

What drives you crazy with online virtual pets games?

As a player, the lack of updates on some pet sites can be frustrating, especially when you’re hoping to see new items, lands to explore, or additional pets introduced.

I also agree that the number of advertisements in some games can be intrusive, sometimes even overlapping the game itself. This is something developers should address, particularly for players on mobile phones or PCs.

when the site doesn't load or buffers, nothing worse than having to wait longer than we should.
This used to be my pet-peeve as a developer.

I didn't do a dev (or have that concept) and would push code updates out live, disabling certain features for sometimes hours at a time during prime-time gameplay. However, since there was so much to do, it really didn't effect the gameplay much if the bank was down for 5 hours while I fixed the bugs. But, I would have to sit there the entire 5 hours trying to debug what went wrong and keep pushing updates until it worked again, even if it meant staying up past bedtime.

The only time I got issues and complaints was when I pushed out battle algorithm updates that didn't work, and as the main focus of the game, it irritated players the most.

All of that would be taken care of now by having a dev instance and pushing out an update in a second that I know works.

The limited-time quests are what frustrated me in pet games. Also, some constant updates also break the game. Don't let me get started with the microtransactions. Very frustrating too.

I don't like when new pet sites open too fast, and they don't have a lot of content or things to keep you busy if you want to be an active player.
I agree with you. The new pet sites with few page articles are so dull. I also hate it when they are full of errors and you can’t play smoothlyl on the sites. It also makes things so boring, and you end up using a lot of your time on it.

1. The first and most frustrating thing is thinking it's a pet breeding sim, but finding out that it's just pet collection/clicking.

2. Finding a bunch of "loose ends," like unfinished features, that remain unfinished, because the staff is working on far too many things at one time.

3. Being misled into thinking there might be a bunch of interesting features, but finding out that it's just one feature that's been copy/pasted fifty thousand times, with different rewards (I'm talking about Flight Rising's "holidays" here, specifically.)

4. Sites that incorporate social media to the point that they tie social media into contests and staff-run games (Wajas in particular is very guilty of this.)

5. Sites that charge an astromical amount of real-world money for custom things and changing the amount of money they expect to be paid for custom orders. (Celestial Equine is extremely guilty of this)

6. Sites that rely heavily on Cash Shop stuff. despite offering Premium memberships (Celestial Equine is extremely guilty of this.)

7. Sites that are so worried about being "politically correct" that they effectively neuter aspects of their own site (Flight Rising is guilty of this, with what they've done to the Plague flight, among other things.)

8. Sites that look like they might end up being very interesting, but just end up being glorified, yet censored RP forums with nothing else to do and giving players no reason to stick around. (Mycena Cave.)
