Are they any game/virtual pet related sites you use to promote your pet site? Do you pay for advertising on any sites?

How do you promote your virtual pet site?

In my opinion, I wouldnt pay for advertising when most of the time the site wont get much traffic.

Pet site owners can reach more users by promoting their pet site on the VirtualPetGaming subreddit:

The Tamagotchi subreddit also allows promotional posts, as long as they have the “promotional” flair:

Additionally, the Neopets subreddit welcomes promotional posts and can be a great place to promote pet sites or sim games:

I also recommend promoting on Twitter, Tumblr, and Bluesky. Be sure to use relevant hashtags to increase your reach.

Another way to promote your pet site is to find gaming forums that allow game owners to showcase their work. This can help attract new members and expand your audience.

I will first check where I am getting most traffic from and what people are checking my site, then I will use a method to reach that demography and geo-location. It is very important to check your stat before promotion.

I agree.:banannadance:
A referral system can be a good strategy for this. Allowing users to earn in-game points, items or other rewards for referring new players can help you promote your site cost-effectively.

Word-of-mouth growth is often much more powerful than paid advertising. In fact, I’ve noticed that only a few pet sites have launched paid advertising campaigns, while others have grown primarily through word of mouth.

I think that's a must have feature for pet sites, alot of members will share links on social media, especially if there's good incentives to get referrals.

The social networks such as Twitter or Instagram and web communities including Reddit /r/virtualpets are good platforms to use. You can also join online pet forums like virtualpetlist.

The /virtualpets subreddit is a restricted community and hasn’t seen any activity for almost a year. However, the virtualpetgaming subreddit isn’t restricted and would be a good place to promote.

The virtualpetapps subreddit may also be a good place for promotion, along with the Tamagotchi subreddit. However, I recommend messaging the moderators before promoting there.

If a pet site features horses, the GamesWithHorses subreddit would be an ideal place for promoting as well.

I've seen a lot of virtual pet site being promoted on Twitter/X to know that it's one of the best places where any pet site owner can promote. Also, it's viable to promote on Reddit too.

One can successfully promote virtual pet site through social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram, gaming forums And then we can go on online directories and listings meant for virtual pet sites.

You can use Reddit and social media groups to reach your audience. These niche websites will provide your site with exceptional visibility through their paid advertising options.

With Instagram enabling links on pictures, I'd say it's a good way to promote. Making videos on Tiktok can also help as they've also enabled links to be included on videos that are uploaded on their platform as well.

Another thing that I believe could be very effective is asking your fan base to repost your social media posts, especially on platforms like Twitter and Tumblr. As, this will enable a site owner to reach a lot more people than they couldn't without reposts. Rewarding users for writing reviews on their blogs could also be very effective as well.
