What's something kids today will never understand?

What are some things kids today will never understand, especially considering the fact that they’ll never have the chance to experience them?


I’d say they’ll never know what it felt like to wake up early, turn on the TV, and wait to see if your school was scrolling across the bottom of the screen. Now it’s just a push notification or a post on social media.


Another one, actually downloading music and burning your own CDs. Picking your favorite tracks, organizing them just right, and hoping the disc didn’t get messed up halfway through.


What are some other things they’ll never understand or get to experience firsthand?

Kids of nowadays don't know anything about hardship. They get everything on a platter of gold. I remembered how I managed to walk to school but now they have school bus waiting at their doorstep.

I have to agree with you on the school closures. I always remember spending mornings in the winter checking the news to see if our school was mentioned, if we had bad weather overnight, such as a lot of snow. Now it is either an email or a text message from the school.

Another is Saturday morning TV. They don't seem to do that anymore.

They will never fully understand what we went through using the post office to send letters, God 😂 😂

It was a real torture back then but thank God for technology and all the chat messengers and emails.

Using physical maps is one of those things that the little kids nowadays will never experience because they have become a thing of the past.

Kids today would never understand that there was a time that we had to go to shops to pay and rent a movie to come watch. They sit down from the comfort of their homes and stream any movie they want. It is interesting how we have evolved.

Waiting for a show to come back on for commercials, buying a game at a store and reading the manual on the way home, not having everything on demand.

Kids of today will never experience many things ranging from going to the store to rent a movie, walking from a far place to school, staying hungry till when mum or dad comes back from the market, wearing a torn clothes to school because of no money for repair or to buy a new one.

It will be a very hard nut to crack. We are having more of soft kids than the ones that can do anything with creative hands. Kids of these days can operate systems but can't do the rough works.

One thing that kids today can't relate with is the fact that people used to locate libraries to get information they needed to do research. Not the home court advantage that they have now where they can use Google, and more recently generative AI to get any information they want.

Did anything really change about this process? Seems it is just a bit faster these days. The speed has always been determined by the amount of space in the receiving device and the actual size of the file being copied.

Of course, it's very faster today unlike how it used to be especially if you're using infrared to send a file.

They really are though, I remember when my grandparents along with my parents used to use maps just to go places when I was a kid. GPS sure has spoiled us over the years.

There are a lot of things that today's kids will never understand. A few years ago, my nephew came to visit me at the office and when he saw a fax machine, he was surprised. A few days ago, my niece found a DVD and was surprised to know that movies came in discs.

Kids these days will never understand that we had to wait minutes to an hour for a webpage to load when we were kids using the internet on dial up! You'd wait 10 minutes just to see the shock player loading screen when you wanted to play a game on Nick.com. xD

Totally agree. Tech has improved rapidly and a lot if things qe used as a kid are dead now.
