There are currently a few pet sites that are in development.

Especially, My Dream Pony, which is being developed by @BerrieStrawberrie, FeralRise, which is being developed by Ittermat, Fancy Pigeon, which is also being developed by Bravefoot, and thenWhisker Hallow, which is being developed by Kimber. Aong with Evarenity.

Lastly, there's also Umbra Pets, which is being developed by Lhannan. Aethria also recently returned, but there are some new things being developed as well. So you can say it's in active development as well.

There's also Pawborough and Mythaura. Mythaura has a slated beta release date for October 2026, and Pawborough is currently in beta mode.

I've worked for Zetapets, Boopets as a content manager, and done some SEO work for Rescreatu & Aywas in the past. I currently do not work for any pet sites.

I’m currently trying to develop my own site, however it seems really hard to do so it might take several years. I have files with the css & html given to me by the person who previously started the website for me (they quit coding due to life concerns) and I’m hoping to learn how to finish the code or find another developer who can provide help for free until the site comes to life and funds are made from kickstarters and bought currency to pay them afterwards.

I would pay out of pocket to get it finished sooner but I’m unfortunately disabled so I can’t work, which is okay because it strengthens me to keep trying to push towards my goals. I’ve had this apocalyptic sci-fi rpg petsite in mind for seven years now so I haven’t given up on it yet. I still draw planets for it time to time so they’ll all be ready when the site is alive.

I also have one more petsite in mind to hopefully make in the near future once I’m fully done on learning how to code and or creating my first project! It’ll be arcade based for childhood nostalgia and will likely be a collection site like how ChickenSmoothie is. It will just be where you have to play arcade games to get items and pets instead of regular adoption, and it’ll have easy ways to get tokens so you don’t always have to spend irl money. All this might change when the time comes around to bring the site into existence.

Prior to working for sites, I was an administrator for Hewan and a moderator for ShibaFace in the past. Both are sadly abandoned, and I’m not sure if they will come back. I was also a staff member for a few others but I can’t remember their names. This one isn’t a website but rather a downloadable application - Pixel Petz is a virtual pet game that I worked for as a community helper within the app and a chatmod for their discord server. I retired from the positions though. Sometimes I miss working for them but I’ve grown apart from the game. <\3

I just started lol But I've got pretty much unlimited time to put into it now. Major holidays are the only times I'm going to likely be POOF but otherwise I'm eager to start

It really does take a lot to develop a pet site. I started developing mine back in 2021, but since I was on my own until November of 2025 not much progress was made. I didn't and still don't know enough about coding to do it on my own. Then I brought my brother on to help with back end coding since I know nothing about it, and a few new friends joined to help with art and front end coding. Which frees me up to work on lore and such. My hope was to launch the site for closed alpha testing on April 1st, but my brother had a serious IRL issue pop up that he wasn't expecting and now has to focus on that, so I may be out of a back end coder unless I can find someone else willing to help me out with svelte/css, mysql, and php coding on a volunteer basis till we can launch our kickstarter between alpha testing and beta testing phases, and I can use that to pay everyone for their hard work.

Vakaroria Virtual Pets is unique in way of it's lore, but also some of it's species it will have for pets, one of which is all original and was created by me back in 2018 with a look overhaul done in summer of 2024. Yet it will offer a fun custom pet creation system where users who have the items can create their own custom designed pets from one of the already existing species. Breeding and questing will also be a thing, as well as forums, mini-games, a guilds feature, and more to come over time.

That sounds really cool! My virtual pets are based more on personality and how both user and pet interact with the site and others, etc. Ego is the currency and the world that the Amlgammas exist in is called ErgoFlux. I plan doing a system where you dont 'adopt' a pet, you 'claim a part of yourself' instead. Then to try and get that pet to 'join you' you'll have to be careful in how you answer or offer stuff to the pet! It could join you, refuse and leave, or take items when it leaves you gave it, or you'll have to give Ego, or itll run away etc but in other cases join.

As for base colors theres 6, each for the Ego Traits of the Amalgamma (for now). Dependent on how you treat it, its 'color' will change to reflect its Stats an Traits.

Mine has alot of fun mechanics, some not explained until you reach certain quests, others obvious but not fully revealed how they work.

To be honest, I only have as much progress as I do because the world that the site takes place in has been being built upon for over a decade, and the original species that it has was created back in 2018. Basically I took parts of the world's lore and applied that to the idea for the site and we have just been going from there!

I can say ive somewhat the same thing, I tend to come up with ideas every year and have been since 2010. So you could say my experiences have forged up to this point everything im putting into Amalgammmas!

I'm still working on Dopcom Creechers! Our fourth beta registration window is coming up in like a week and a half. We have forums now!

I know a lot of people are trying to develop a pet site but it's not easy at all. short. I haven't made an attempt but I know one or two people that have tried it. The coding and the art can be very overwhelming. It's a full-time stress.
Did your friends use a framework when they attempted to make their own pet game, or did they try to code it from scratch?
