Why did you create your virtual pet site?

The first pet site I started was because I liked the one I played on and the curiosity of how to build one got to me to where I just did it.
It then became me playing on my own site in order to work out bugs.
I owned it for around 2 years I believe... Some time like that.
I plan on opening a new one, but am exploring the possibility of building it off of an existing framework than starting from scratch as there are so many more exploits today that I'd prefer the better coders patch while I focus on gameplay and whatnot.

I would start one to have complete control on what pets show up on the site and how cute I can make them.
