Why Do Online Pet Forums Still Exist?

I am not on a lot of virrual pet communities but I know they are very popular. Communities built around virtual pet games often continue outside the game itself. Why do players discuss strategies, trades, and pet stories on forums instead of just inside the game?

As the owner of Virtualpetlist, I can't speak for other forums, but I can speak for VPL, our virtual pet forum exists for a few reasons, to give players, artists, writers, and game owners a place to hang out. to promote their games, and to connect with other fans, players, and other developers.

Forums like ours are unique in their own way as their isn't niche based online communities that give players, developers, artists, and writers a way to discuss their favorite games with others that enjoy & love the same things that they do, and to connect with those that cherish the games as a whole

The vision that I had back in 2004 when I came up with the concept of Virtual pet list as a simple directory morphed into something more into an online community.

In which, I am truly honored, and grateful that I decided to turn it into an online community for Virtual pet site & sim game players, game developers, artists and writers, as our online community has made a huge impact on the virtual pet community as a whole. The community that we all have built is truly amazing. Our members have made our community what it is today and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for our virtual pet forum. ^.^

Our community exists outside the game, as we are not owned by game owners.

Also, online pet game forums will continue to exist, for many many more, years. We are here to stay, for the long haul.

How else would we discover new pet games? We need sites like VPL to help showcase emerging games, inspire new developers, and attract new players to the genre. Platforms that highlight and promote pet games play an important role in keeping the community active and helping new projects gain visibility.

I think forums are better for games since they're more organized than a server. Also without forums like VPL, it'd be hard to find pet games to play!
