Many players say their virtual pets feel emotionally real even though they exist only on a screen. Daily care, growth systems, and small interactions build attachment over time. What design elements create that feeling? Do routines make the bond stronger? Have you ever felt responsible for a virtual pet?

Honestly, I would say that Virtual pets feel real as they are based on real life mechanics. They were made due to real life animals. Without real life animals, I don't think virtual pets would exist today. The feeding mechanics, and caring for a virtual pets stems from the feeding & caring for a real life animal as well.

It is a break from reality for some, and it gives a lot of folks a chance to raise animals if they're not able to do so. Virtual pets allow us to care for our own animals, besides a real life animal. They enable us to care for an animal in a similar fashion. Over the years, immersing ourselves in virtual worlds have provided us with entertainment, and love. We also have grown up with these games as well. Which is awesome.

To me, I would say that I am responsible for my virtual pets. The same way, I am responsible for my real life animals. I do agree that routines make the bond, stronger, especially in terms of training, battling, caring, and feeding our virtual pets.

Virtual pets feel real because they respond to your actions and create a sense of attachment over time. Regular interaction, feedback, and customization make them feel more personal. Even though they’re digital, the emotional habits we build around them make the experience feel lifelike.

I have never been attached with anything digital, even though I might enjoy spending time on virtual world. Virtual pets feel real because the activities are the simulation of real world activities. The pets are designed in a way that they exhibit real world behavior.
