Without SEO, your website does not rank on search engines. Hiring SEO experts regularly can be expensive. That’s why if you are running a website, any kind of website, or plan on starting a website, learning basic SEO skills is essential You don’t need to spend money to learn, SEO, you can find a lot of free courses and tutorials online. Investing your time in learning SEO pays off in long-term traffic and growth. How well do you know about SEO?

I also believe that learning SEO is important to owners of websites as it’s necessary to improve the site's visibility, traffic and ultimately help generate conversion.

Learning SEO is something that I have always procrastinated on over the years. I want to learn how to do SEO writing. I learned that it pays much higher than just basic writing skills.

Kind of hard to learn it really, seems like the rules change for it all the time.
The rules and fundamentals have remained the same over the years, but new systems like(ai overviews) have rolled out. However, these systems also use keyword relevancy, header tags, and content authority to rank in them along with backlinks. As long as you use semantic seo as the basis with your content, you'll do perfectly fine with the rankings.

This resource site is awesome for learning:

The only rules that were changed over the years was the replacement of the "meta keywords" not being useful anymore and "nofollow", now being used as hints. Back in the day, the search engines wouldn't follow any links if they were set to nofollow. However, they now take these in account and make use them.

Interlinking is also very important as related threads should be linked together as they help the search engines crawl and index your content a lot faster. It also helps with navigation purposes.

If you have images, it's also a good idea to include alt texts on them, so you can rank on image search and make it easier for accessibility.

I don't know more about SEO but as someone that have it in mind to have my own website, I will learn about SEO soon, I know that it will help me to improve on my site, learn the basics and all about traffic, conversion and growth.

As website owners are learning about SEO, getting to know the basics, traffics, the rules and the visibility. I will also love to know about SEO as a basic knowledge. It will help me too when I have my own website.
The knowledge of SEO is absolutely important for website owners to increase traffic and boost visibility. As a website owner, you should understand keywords, link-building and how to optimize content to drive organic growth.

SEO is so important as you need it for people to discover your sites faster. For me, SEO is more of putting yourself in the shoes of your audience and writing about what resonates with them.

It's more about finding a balance that works well for you. Are you creating content for your audience? If so, then you'll do quite well with the search engines.

Content that's designed for users in mind is what the search engines are seeking. You have to put yourself in the perspective of a user, and optimize your content second. Which, includes placing your keywords throughout the content, especially in your site's title or meta description. Without a good site title or meta description, your site won't perform that well on the search engines.

You also have to have a clear description of your site on its "about me" and/or footer that tells your audience what your website is about.
Without a clear in depth description that describes what your website provides or what it offers, the search engines won't understand how to rank your content correctly. The description leads the way in this perspective. Every title and meta description should align correctly with your overall content.

Also, keep in mind while building backlinks, you shouldn't use the same link anchor everywhere. Each keyword that you're trying to rank for should be included while backlinks.

For example, if you want to rank for the keyword "Good movie". then your link anchor variants, should be "Top Good movies 2025?". "Good movies last year". etc. You should also build backlinks to more than one area besides your homepage itself. Each page is important, especially if you're trying to rank higher on the search engines.

If all your backlinks are pointing to your homepage itself, that isn't a good thing. Your backlinks should be spread out throughout the entire site. Especially all the pages that you feel are "best" pages to say the least.

Yes, that's correct. If you can learn how your audience thinks, you will know the best way to resonate with them, that's why SEO is very good for website to be seen and to know what to do for your audience.

I used to think all backlinks were equal, but after digging deeper I realized tools like Ahrefs actually categorize them pretty specifically. If anyone else is confused about why their referring domains count seems off, this helped me figure it out: https://crowdo.net/blog/how-ahrefs-counts-links-referring-domains. It breaks down how different types of links are treated, especially duplicates, which was messing with my numbers.

I see it’s been a while since anyone posted, but I just wanted to ask—has anyone seen a big change in their site traffic after just tweaking meta titles and descriptions? I’ve been playing around with mine and noticed small bumps, but I’m not sure how much impact that alone really has. Would love to hear if others had different results or strategies that worked better.
Your meta title and description definitely play a role in your search rankings, especially when they’re optimized around the right keywords. Did you end up adding any new ones when you updated them?

If you really want to see stronger movement, try working those same keywords into your H1, H2, and even H3 tags on that page. You’ll reinforce the topic for search engines and usually see a cleaner bump in rankings over time.

I updated the meta tags and cleaned up my titles too. You’re right because using those keywords in headings really boosts rankings. I’ve seen a small bump already for doing that. It's nice to tweak it a bit.

It is not easy to learn, but trust me when I say that the benefits that come with learning it are quite huge and make it a key skill that anyone who has a website should have.

I agree. The search engines tend to update their regulations over time, however, the core structure has seemed to remained the same over the years.

What worked in the early 2000's has steady worked in the late 2000's as well. Content and backlinks have remained the main structures that help a website rank well.

As long as the content provides valuable in a particular niche, it'll perform quite well in the search engines. However, without backlinks, it'll be pretty tough to do so.

The key is to ensure that a site has backlinks coming in from all types of websites that are relevant to your core industry. That way, it'll be able to perform quite well. Social media links, forum links, directory links, etc, are highly important.

Also, another thing is to ensure that a site has a good inter-linking structure that provides easy to access links to related content. As long as the site is easy to navigate for users(page to page), it'll be easier to rank and perform for the search engines as well.

It takes a lot of time to rank well on the search engines, but with lots of backlink building, and promoting, it's a lot easier.

If I were to start over with SEO now, this video would where I'd start off with:

I plan to launch a blog someday and I know I cannot succeed without SEO. I have basic knowledge on SEO and I would like to learn advanced SEO skills
