Do you think were coming to the point where AI will start stealing jobs? Do you think those involved in programming and web design will become less useful?

I don’t think AI will steal jobs from actual creators. It will never replace programmers and artists.
It’s only helping those that aren’t actual creators and that’s something to be worried about.

You can’t take real creativity away from anyone and that’s something that AI’s lack. The real ness and authenticity of humans will always produce better results than an AI will.

I think it might in due time, when AI can make any site to a set of instructions, then most developers will be stuck doing testing instead of making stuff.

Wayfair recently announced plans to expand its use of generative AI while cutting 340 tech jobs, signaling a growing trend of companies automating human tasks. This shift highlights the increasing reliance on AI-driven efficiencies in the business world. Mark Muro, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution’s Metropolitan Policy Program, joined The Daily Report to discuss the implications of AI adoption, its impact on the workforce, and the broader economic effects of automation.

What are your thoughts on the latest announcement from Wayfair?

I don't believe AI can replace web developers. While it's true you can get AI to write code for you, someone still needs to make tweaks to said code for it to work properly.

It can't be possible for AI to replace web developers. AI can do many things but indeed they can't do all. The works of web developers are really more of creativity which AI don't have.

Yea I've been using Chatgpt to help me with some coding and good lord is he an idiot... they need alot more work with it before humans arent useful

AI will augment web developers' work, but it cannot replicate the human creativity and problem-solving that developers have. AI provides suggestions but lacks the human nuances and original expressions.

I agree, which is exactly why I think AI will always need humans to run properly. Especially when it comes to programming, I don’t ever see it working without us.

Sure, there are AI website builders out there, but they still miss that human touch, the soul behind the work. Honestly, that’s not a good thing. The problem starts when people treat AI as more than a tool, thinking it can fully replace actual humans. It can’t, and it won’t.

Real developers will always have the edge. They can think creatively, solve problems, and bring more to the table than any bot ever could.

I agree that AI is a very powerful tool but it cannot replace human intuition and creativity. AI can only streamline certain task and cannot design things with human intuition.

With the stage AI is right now, it's not going to replace web developers but with AI constantly being improved, there's a chance of that happening.

AI is taking over many jobs, but it's also creating new ones. Programmers and web designers will need to focus on more creative and difficult tasks that AI can't do easily. humans skills are still very important and will help them stay useful in the future.

That’s the key thing. Without human input and oversight, AI systems aren’t able to do anything.

If the web cut off the bloodline that feeds ai chatbots and systems, they wouldn’t have any oxygen to keep going.

It’s creating lackluster content across the web and poor websites, especially since some consider it “vibe coding”, but there’s nothin vibe about it. Either you’re a programmer, an artist, a creator or you’re not.

We’re also seeing automated ai bots running rampant on social media that act like regular humans, which take the whole social elements out of social media.

So, what’s the whole point of social media if these companies are replacing humans with bots?

I agree with you. As much as I believe that AI will enhance some jobs, human creative abilities, problem solving, and critical thinking is also important and relevant too.

This is the key thing here. It may enhance some jobs that really didn’t need humans in the first place, but deep development will always need the human feeling and soul.

Especially when it comes to games, art, and writing. I don’t see AI ever replacing authors, programmers, storywriters, or game creators, but it might help them in the process. It was always created as a simple tool to assist humans. But now, people are starting to use it to replace things, which I don’t think was ever the intention.

It’s actually really unfortunate that we’re heading in that direction. However, web developers should keep doing what they do best, the same with writers, artists, designers, programmers, and more, and that’s create. Keep bringing the heat and let your creativity roam freely. As long as you’ve got that, nothing can stop your flow. You’ll always have the power over AI systems. That’s the best part about all of this.

If we tell ourselves the naked truth, we will see that there will come a day that AI will take our jobs. I saw on Facebook about how six or seven web developers were sacked from their works. AI might take all our works but the difference there will be human's creativity.

I keep saying that human creativity and critical thinking are complex for AI to match but the good thing is that AI is a useful tool to augment web developer's efforts and not to replace them.

AI is for augmenting but I don't know why it's looking as if AI is becoming more complex for humans to handle or was it the news making us see AI as the best thing ever.

Though AI is capable of supplementing some aspects, but there is a need for human perspective, imagination, and emotional touch as well.

Ai will surely struggle when it comes to taking jobs from creatives. Those guys are the real deal and will continue to dominate in many years to come. We can't say the same for some mechanical jobs that are out there.

I don't see AI replacing human web developers even with the progress it has recorded in the past few years. This is because AI only excels in repetitive tasks but it lacks human creativity.

In as much we knew this but it seems as if the way the news were given to us. AI can never replace creativity unless humans are no more.

AI doesn't have enough deduction capacity to be able to interpret the diverse needs of different clients regarding web and app development. It is only a human developer that can fully translate client expectations and objective. The sphere of web development is too subjective for AI to think of displacing humans.

This. Without human input, the AI systems can't function nor develop itself. It was trained by a human and will forever need a human to fully function. Which is why, a lot of websites that are developed by AI companies, or people that using AI softwares, are always relying on actual developers to work on them.

I don't see AI ever replacing developers, especially when they're trained by them. There's a thing called "VIBE coding", but it's a term that's coined to describe an approach to software development where developers use natural language prompts to instruct the AI tools to generate, refine and debug code.

Therefore, the AI systems need the developers to move forward, it can't replace them. We're far away from the day where AI systems will replace actual humans from developing things that we do, create and take aim at. I don't actually ever see this ever happening though.

I have seen a lot of people talked about how AI will replace so many jobs but I want to point out that AI can’t function properly without the input of human beings. So AI can only assist with certain aspects of web development but cannot replace or bring the creativity or critical thinking skills to the table

For now, AI can't do that but with the way the development and advancement of what AI can do, it's very much possible in the future. The world haven't scratched half the surface of AI capabilities.

I didn't see the possibilities of AI completely displacing web developers because AI work does not reflect the human touch, which is probably the most important thing in gaming..

AI can automate some tasks in web development like coding templates, debugging, or generating basic layouts but it’s unlikely to fully replace developers. Complex problem-solving, creative design, client communication, and project planning still require human judgment. AI is more likely to assist and speed up work than steal jobs entirely.

Well, AI will certainly steal jobs from web developer but it will never replace web developer. people or businesses who do not have the budget to hire web developer, will continue to use AI to build web projects.

AI won’t fully replace web developers, but it is changing the role. Routine coding is increasingly automated, especially at entry level. However, demand remains for developers who can design systems, solve problems, and use AI tools effectively to build more complex, high-quality applications.
