Writing can be a passive income if you know how to do it. If you write for clients, it is one time payment, but if you blog, your blog will bring in recurring income, or if you publish books, it cam being in royalty for life long. However, this is not an easy path, there is an intense competition. You will also need to do more than just writing, you will have to master SEO, digital marketing, and content strategy. Do you earn passive income from writing?

To earn substantial passive income from your blogs, you would need to stay writing and doing SEO for a very long time. It is not something that is achievable in one year after starting in the these days.

If you publish books and if people buy your books you can earn passive income.

Simply writing and posting once usually isn’t enough. You need evergreen content, digital products like ebooks, or a blog that keep generating traffic. Even then, it often takes upfront effort before anything becomes “passive.”
So it’s less about writing itself and more about how you package, distribute, and scale it.
