Bluesky has rolled out a new verification system, which will display a blue check on accounts that are verified on their platform.

Verified accounts will also have the ability to verify other accounts under their new system.

Now, we’re introducing a new layer — a user-friendly, easily recognizable blue check. Bluesky will proactively verify authentic and notable accounts and display a blue check next to their names. Additionally, through our Trusted Verifiers feature, select independent organizations can verify accounts directly. Bluesky will review these verifications as well to ensure authenticity.

This is something that's expected for Bluesky to do because all social media platforms including dating websites have users account verified and displayed. This helps to improve on the sense of security interacting with users in the space.

I am glad that they introduced this feature. It is going to have them align themselves with how other social media platforms work. There is a need to have this verification process for most accounts in order to separate the real ones from the fake ones.

It's a good one and it will help them to belong among the social media platforms. Identifying the real accounts from fake ones is one way ahead to bring it to limelight.

I wish with this new features being rolled out, they make it compulsory for every new account to complete the account verification test before they can use the platform.

I hope so too because in X, you're required to pay for it and it's the same thing with all Meta products like Facebook, Instagram and Threads.
You can get a subscription on Meta that applies for all of their platforms, especially if your account is linked to one main profile.

Their subscription model is $1 month or $5.99 for some.

I expected Meta to make provision for such because it's going to be too much hassle to run verification in all of their account one by one.
