Dark Matter is a sci-thriller series that’s based on a book that was written by Blake Crouch.

Dark Matter is a story about the road not taken. The series will follow Jason Dessen (played by Joel Edgerton), a physicist, professor and family man who — one night while walking home on the streets of Chicago — is abducted into an alternate version of his life. Wonder quickly turns to nightmare when he tries to return to his reality amid the mind-bending landscape of lives he could have lived. In this labyrinth of realities, he embarks on a harrowing journey to get back to his true family and save them from the most terrifying, unbeatable foe imaginable: himself
Has anyone here seen this new tv show? I just started watching it. It looks interesting.

I haven't seen it yet but I can say that it looks interesting. I will hold on a little more for you to watch more and provide more insights on it for me before I start watching it.
It’s actually really good. I’m on episode 4. There are only 7 episodes out right now.

The first episode starts off interestingly, and the main character ends up being abducted from everything he loves. In the second episode, his life doesn’t make any sense anymore as he created something extraordinary. It takes him some time to realize this though.

The third episode explains more about his invention, and the other characters show him what he created.

I had goosebumps watching the trailer of the TV show. I'm 100% going to start watching it tonight or tomorrow. It's a someone had the same storyline of The Flash with different timelines of the same people with different lives. It's going to be an interesting piece.

I will definitely start watching it today after watching the first episode of House of the Dragon that starts streaming today.

In the end, there was a complete chaos with how the show ended in season 1. I wonder how they are going to go about reconciling everything in season 2?
I think they will are going to find a way to have each and every one of him sent back to the timeline where they came from because that is the only justification I see happening in the end.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed until they announce when the season 2 is going to be released so that we see what they are going to make up with the storyline.

I wasn’t expecting the show to conclude like that, but it was a great ending. Once all the other versions of Jasons showed up, I lost it though.🤣🤣

Same here. I hope season 2 will be just as epic as season 1.

Even the cash register lady didn’t even know what to think. She was like “do you have a twin?”

It's going to be a big chaos for all of them to fight to go back to one woman and her son. I think it was a smart writing when they had her agree on a code word with the real Jason.

They're planning a second season of it too. They started filming back in February. It'll be interesting to see what they have planned for season 2. If it's anything like the first season, I'm going to binge watch it fast.

The good news is, production for Dark Matter Season 2 got rolling in February 2025. On February 10th, Blake Crouch posted some photos of himself on set, along with the news that principal photography had begun for the second season of the series.

Season 1 of the series filmed in Chicago, and based on Backstage’s casting call for Season 2, it seems the Windy City will serve as the backdrop for Season 2 as well.

That’s the question at hand, isn’t it? Dark Matter Season 1 followed the bullet points of the book on which it’s based, with some notable deviations, of course. That is to say, a science professor is abducted and finds himself thrown into exactly the kind of mind-bending scenario that sci-fi fans adore.

The first season does end with “our” Jason leaving his reality, along with Daniela and Charlie, set for some unknown reality of Charlie’s choosing to escape the madness of many Jasons in his world and start over somewhere new. That could’ve closed the book on the show, though there were indications of other loose ends needing to be resolved.

Apple TV+’s announcement of the renewal doesn’t go into a ton of detail about what’s in store for Season 2, but it does include some quotes from the people behind the show, including Blake Crouch, who’s not only the author of the source material, but the showrunner of the series. Here’s what he had to say about Season 2:

In the process of writing and filming season one, we discovered that there’s so much more story to tell, and we’ve only scratched the surface of these characters as they fight for survival and to find their way home through a landscape of mind-bending realities. See you in the Box!
