Eminem has recently accomplished something no other rapper has ever managed to do in the history of music: he has sold over 50 million pure album units, becoming the first rapper in history to do so.

This is a major accomplishment for Eminem, as he’s been in the music industry for over 20 years. Do you think we’ll ever see another rapper reach this milestone?

Is there an award above Platinum?

I know an album can get that recognition, but can a collection/artist discography be labeled as Diamond after maybe 50 million (as he set the mark)?

It probably wouldn't mean anything to Eminem anyway.

Yes, there's multi-platinum, followed by diamond. To receive a multi-platinum award, an artist must sell 2 million or more copies, while diamond status is awarded for over 10 million sales.

I know they do it on a per-album basis, but I wonder if there's an award for an entire discography as the 50 million sold is among all albums, not just one.

Surely he has platinum albums (I haven't looked into it), but there should be a standard to apply to all albums so that even small artists could go "gold" if they have 5 CDs but a total of only like 1,000,000 sales.

While certifications like platinum, multi-platinum, and diamond are awarded on a per-album or per-single basis, there isn’t an official RIAA award that covers an artist’s total discography sales. However, some organizations and media outlets do recognize total career sales milestones, by often citing figures like "50 million records sold worldwide." It would be interesting to see something like a cumulative certification, which could actually be a nice way to acknowledge artists with strong overall sales, even if no single album hit a massive milestone. It could work similarly to how the RIAA certifies streaming numbers now. Also, smaller artists with multiple releases still get recognition through things like Gold or Platinum certifications for singles, even if their albums don’t hit those marks.
