I've been browsing this forum for a bit but never signed up, then I clicked some link and it told me to sign up and I never went back to the link today cause I forgot about it. LOL.

I've mostly only played Neopets (but their 5 different layouts and dependence on flash still kills my motivation to actually play) and Marapets (which I play daily still lol)

I have quite a few fansites on celebrities but I've been working on details mostly of a browser game I wanna re-create since it's been defunct so long (not a pet site but it is of the online browser early 2000s realm, it'd be recreated with a new name and avoid all copyrighted names and do away with any resemblance really besides the way it plays and what it was based on, I also was planning on making an archive of the defunct site too lol) but I would need artists and a dev to tie all the features and build the backend really cause I'm not that experienced with it but that's for a journey later I guess..

You’re definitely not alone, Neopets’ messy layout situation and Flash issues still turn a lot of folks off, even the long-timers. I also play Marapets along side a few other members here.
Your browser game project sounds like something a lot of us here would be into, especially since it taps into that early 2000s web game vibe. Once you’re ready to talk more about it, feel free to post in our sneak peaks forum, or drop into virtual pet information to bounce ideas around with other site owners and devs. We have some great artists around too, so you never know who might be interested once you get the ball rolling. There's also two pet game frameworks that you can use to help you build your game, especially KittoKittoKittoKittoKittoKitto and Mysidia Adoptables if you're interested in using them in the near future.


Also, if you ever want to show off your fansites, check out the what websites do you own thread, we'd love to see what you’ve worked on.

Yeah, Neopets' messy situation turns me off and the loading times kill any small motivation I may have to even browse it. I like Marapets a lot though, I even made a fansite on it just because I wanted something more to do haha. 😜

I will definitely do such and look into those frameworks, it's not necessarily a pet site though it was sometimes contested alongside them, it was just a silly advert world i loved aka just made to be advertisements for different products they had haha. It's still in the early stages though.

It's crazy how much they turned off their fanbase unless they're super loyal and spend money on. (I haven't spent money on Neopets since I was a teenager when my parents would buy me the plushies. I'm sorry you had that experience on Marapets! I try to help everyone I can on Mara, just cause I know a lot of people can come off as stern.

I haven't played any of those, I have been on Flight Rising's page but not sure of the other two. What do you like about them? 🙂

I hope Neopets is able to fix their server issues relatively soon though. It's been an ongoing issue for quite sometime now.

I play Marapets a lot as well, I have a habit of blowing all my marapoints and then making them back. 🤣I'm holding onto a lot of birthday items from last year, so they should be worth a lot in a few years. I like how the economy isn't too hard or easy, so depending on what you like to do, you're able to earn in various ways.

They're entirely too focused on the NC mall instead of quality of life features. They really need a better approach on things and user management. I do know that they've been focusing on their mobile apps. There's also apparently a new upcoming mobile app that's in development as well.

I'm actually a collector of Dukka coins as well. I don't have a huge collection though as I tend to sell them if another user needs some. I'll have to take a peak at your gallery!

I've had a lot of luck over the years doing the Slate Pyramid quests. They've one of my favorite ways to earn Marapets. The aquarium can be quite profitable as well, depending on the type of scholarship that you're rewarded with. Their autopricer feature comes in handy. 😀

Is maraforce still actively being updated? Shaggy used to run it right? I don't know whatever happened to that, but I think she either gave it to Ian or it's ran by someone else now. How long have you been running your Mara fan site? 🙂
I've added it to our list of fan sites as well. 😀 I hope they start introducing some new things that aren't entirely focused on the NC mall soon, it would be awesome if they do. I think we'll see something change relatively in the near future once they get their backend side of things updated.

I feel that 100% lmao. I'd rather not spend a dime on Neo, but I'll talk about them and give them free publicity. I'll forever be a loyal supporter on that front. I'm the same way, I quit after about 30 quests or so.

I couldn't keep up when the snowman event was going on. There was no chance I was going to compete in that event. 🤣 The aquarium is the fastest one, but the time limit really gets you.

I like playing Dukka dash as well. It's one of my favorite games on there though. I get lucky sometimes, but not a lot.

MaraForce has had some updates recently, but it's few and far between. I still don't think Shaggy is back to being active. It started on the marasites feature itself but since that doesn't let me update and just throws me errors any time I hit update for the last couple years, it's been on a domain but I just moved to the Maraholic domain in like February I think, but I just revamped everything last month/end of march so I have to finish transferring everything from the old domain + the marasite pages. xD

I won't spend a dime on it either but whenever it's brought up, I will always mention how their 5 layouts and flash dependency kill it for me. Haha do you think they call that commitment issues with quests? xD

If I feel like I won't get the rest of the event items then I will purchase if I can't get them off of questing/participating in the event.

what did they say that made them scold you? I had that same experience on Xanje by saying something that could be seen as a bit rude even though it really wasn’t also it’s weird that Xanje is obsessed with not offending people but only people that have the same beliefs as them because apparently people with other beliefs being comfortable doesn’t matter they told me their not a Christian site so that means they won’t even try to stop things that are offensive to Christians which is so insane because if you say something that doesn’t align with their political beliefs they will block you
